Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the HomeProof mobile application for iOS and Android, published by Vellora Studio (a trading name of Vellora Ops Ltd). It explains what data the app uses, how it is stored, and what we (as the developer) have access to.

Vellora Ops Ltd collects zero personal data from HomeProof users.

Your inventory, photos, serial numbers, and valuations never leave your device unless you explicitly export them yourself. We have no servers, no accounts, and no access to your data.

2. The Short Version

HomeProof is an offline-only application. It has no back-end servers, no user accounts, and no network communication of its own. As a result:

  • We do not collect any personal information
  • We do not store any data on our own servers
  • We cannot access your inventory, photos, or any other content you create in the app
  • We do not share any data with third parties
  • We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs
  • We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services

The only parties who may process data in connection with HomeProof are Apple (via the App Store and iCloud device backup) and Google (via Google Play and Android device backup), subject to their own privacy policies. In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple or Google, and we receive no payment details.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

All data you create in HomeProof is stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database within the app's private sandbox. This includes:

Data can only leave your device if you initiate an export (PDF report, CSV export, or encrypted .homeproof backup) via your device's share sheet. You choose where it goes, and we are not involved in that transfer.

4. Device Permissions We Request

HomeProof requests the following permissions, each solely at the point of use. No permission is requested on first launch.

Camera

Why

To photograph items and receipts for your inventory.

Your data

Photos are saved to the app sandbox only. They are never uploaded.

Photo Library (read)

Why

To let you select an existing photo from your gallery instead of taking a new one.

Selected photos are copied to the app sandbox only. Your full library is not read or indexed.

Biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID, or Fingerprint)

Why

To lock the app and protect your inventory from unauthorised access.

Biometric data is handled entirely by the operating system (iOS Secure Enclave / Android BiometricPrompt). HomeProof never sees or receives your biometric data.

Local File Storage

Why

To store your encrypted database, photos, generated PDFs, and backup files within the app sandbox.

All data is stored within the app's private sandbox, inaccessible to other apps.

5. In-App Purchases

HomeProof offers a single one-time in-app purchase (HomeProof Premium (product ID: homeproof_premium_lifetime)) to unlock unlimited items, PDF export, CSV export, and encrypted backup.

All in-app purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) using their own payment infrastructure. Vellora Ops Ltd does not receive, store, or process any payment card details. We only receive a confirmation of successful purchase from the store.

Purchase receipt validation is performed locally on your device against the App Store or Play Store. No receipt data is transmitted to our systems.

6. Device Backups

HomeProof's local data may be included in your device's standard operating system backup:

  • iOS: If you use iCloud device backup, your HomeProof data may be included as part of the overall device backup. This is managed entirely by Apple. HomeProof has no control over or access to these backups.
  • Android: Android Auto Backup may include HomeProof app data in your Google account backup. This is managed by Google. HomeProof has no control over or access to these backups.

These device-level backups are governed by Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies.

7. HomeProof Encrypted Backups

HomeProof Premium includes an encrypted backup feature. When you use this, the app:

  1. 1 Serialises your local database and photos into a single archive
  2. 2 Encrypts that archive using AES-256 with a passphrase you choose
  3. 3 Saves the resulting .homeproof file to your device's local storage
  4. 4 Offers it to you via your device's share sheet so you can save it wherever you like

The backup file never passes through our systems. Where you save it (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, a USB drive, or email) is entirely your choice and your responsibility. We have no access to, and no copy of, your backup files or the passphrase you use to protect them. If you lose your passphrase, the backup cannot be recovered.

8. Analytics & Crash Reporting

HomeProof contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

There is no Firebase, no Sentry, no Crashlytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no advertising identifier (IDFA/GAID) access, and no tracking library of any kind included in the app. The Apple App Store privacy “nutrition label” for HomeProof correctly declares: Data Collected: None.

If we ever add crash reporting or analytics in a future version, we will update this policy, display an in-app notice, and request your consent before any such collection begins.

9. Children's Privacy

HomeProof is rated 4+ on the App Store and Everyone on Google Play. Because the app collects no personal data from any user, there is no additional risk to children. However, the app is primarily designed for adults managing household contents for insurance purposes.

10. UK GDPR & Your Rights

Because Vellora Ops Ltd does not collect, process, or store any personal data from HomeProof users, we do not act as a data controller in respect of your use of the app. As a result, the majority of UK GDPR obligations do not apply to us in this context.

Your personal data (your inventory contents, photos, and values) belongs entirely to you and never leaves your device without your explicit action. There is nothing held by us for you to request access to, rectify, or delete.

If you wish to delete all data created by HomeProof, you can:

  • Use the in-app “Wipe all data” function (Settings → Delete all data), which requires double confirmation
  • Uninstall the app, which removes all app data from the device sandbox on both iOS and Android

If you have concerns about how Apple or Google handle your data in connection with the App Store, iCloud, Google Play, or Android device backups, please refer to their respective privacy policies and exercise your rights with them directly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We will update this policy if the privacy characteristics of HomeProof change materially, for example if a future version adds crash reporting or analytics. When that happens, we will:

  • Update the "Effective date" at the top of this page
  • Display an in-app notice on the next app launch
  • Seek fresh consent before any new data collection begins
